Race Information
Before the Start
- Race Numbers and Entry Packs
- Entry packs will be sent out roughly two weeks before the event and will contain everything you need to know about the event; your entry number will also be included
- We will not cash your cheques until a couple of days before the packs are sent out
- Please fill provide contact details and medical form on the back of your competitor race number.
- Parking
- The location of the car parks will be confirmed in your runner's pack
- Please head for the Parish Hall in Swallowfield and follow the signs (or ask a marshal) from there. Please don't park in the Swallowfield Street as you'll be running along there later!
- Changing Facilities
- Changing facilities are provided at Swallowfield Parish Hall
- Bag Storage
- A bag store will be provided at Swallowfield Parish Hall. Please don't leave valuables in them
- Training
- Do NOT attempt to run on the day if you are feeling under the weather – you may do yourself more harm than good
- Please read the guidance on www.runnersmedicalresource.com website on how to prepare for an endurance event such as the 10K
- If you are new to running, follow a training plan to prepare yourself for the day. Good advice on training and how to prepare for the event can be found on the Runners World website – www.runnersworld.co.uk
- Make sure you have appropriate footwear suitable to running 10K. If in doubt, visit a good running store to seek advice
- Wearing appropriate running kit will help to keep you comfortable, warm and dry if the weather is adverse. Again a good running store can advise.
The Race
- Start / Finish
- All runners should be at Brookwood Nursery by 10:15am ready for a 10:30am start. The start will not be delayed for late arrivals
- The 10K race will start first with the 3K following a couple of minutes afterwards
- On crossing the finish line, all runners should move quickly away from the finish area
- The presentations will be at 12:00
- The Route
- The route is gently undulating with a climb up Farley Hill
- If you are not used to running regularly take it easy!
- There are several tight turns, particularly where you cross the bridge near Swallowfield church. It will be well signposted and marshalled but please pay particular care here
- Route Hazards
- Parts of the race will involve crossing the line of traffic to turn into another road. These points will be marshalled but all runners are reminded that they are responsible for their own safety . In addition, please be careful of traffic turning at junctions
- The organisers will not be held responsible for any loss, personal injury or damage to any runner as a result of entering or participating in this event.
- Road Closures
- The roads will be open at all times so please take care
- Water Stations
- Water stations will be provided around the course. Information on their location will be available at the start of the race
- Mile Markers
- Will be placed every mile
- Safety
- It is each runners responsibility to take care of their own safety and welfare before, during, and after the event.
- St John's Ambulance personnel will be on duty in case of need.
- If you feel unwell during the event, please go the closest marshal on the course and seek assistance
- If you are not an experienced athlete please don't sprint to the finish
- Refreshments
- There will be drinks posts around the route
- There will be opportunity to purchase food and hot drinks at the finish.
- Marshals
- Please respect the marshals and all the helpers on the day
- First Aid
- We are very grateful to St. John’s for providing First Aid for our event
- It you require the assistance of St. John’s or need to withdraw from the event, please see a marshal, who will assist you
- Timing
- There will be a race clock on the start and finish gantry.
- About Us
